Apply joint efficiency factor to ASME B31.1 Expansion allowable

As an example, ASME B31.1 (2020) - section "102.3.2 Limits for Sustained Stresses and Displacement Stress Ranges" - para (b) Displacement Stresses provides the equation 1A for calculation of allowable stress range. Review the definition of Sc and Sh used in the equation, right below the definitions find, "for welded pipe the joint, joint efficiency factor, E, need not be applied (see para. 102.4.3)".

From the above discussion: Joint Efficiency Factor, E, is not required to be included when calculating the "basic material allowable stresses" for expansion stress allowable calculations.

Suggest new feature, a check box on the pipe properties dialog. When this new option (Apply to Exp Allow) is enabled, Joint Efficiency Factor, E, will also be included when calculating the "basic material allowable stresses" for expansion stress allowable calculations.

    I can't see a need for this, E is required for seam weld and hoop stress and not needed for longitudinal stress in the thermal range calculation. B31.1

    I am interested if our Users support this change. Currently the full allowable is used without consideration of weld efficiency by the program. We would likely provide this as a Combination or Results option rather than material.
