ADD A NEW IDEA

All ideas

We would like the ability to compare two AutoPIPE models against each other for the purpose to locating changes as new models are created.

Our current work process is to receive PCF's from the 3D design model, translate, analysis and suggest changes if needed to the design team, then repeat as the 3D model changes. Currently the only way to see design changes is to visually search th...

Reference point - nonsymmetric allowable

Reference point is great tool to verify connector capacity. Currently only symmetric allowable values could be used. Many times connectors allowable loads are nonsymmetric ex. range of values -80 to 0kN or -150 to 350kNm. See attached image. It wo...

Allow small letters in point names to increase node limit to 40000

If increasing the length of point names to 5 or six letters is too hard, I suggest allowing the use of small letters aa to zz. This will increase the number of segments and number of nodes by 4 times to about 2800 segments and 40,000 nodes.

Support Results grids local direction should be user friendly and consistent

Open the results grids, select the support tab, and locate the columns for LocalDir1 - Gap3. Quick what does this refer to: pipe local axis, support local axis? Is this direction consistent across all of the support types (see attached image of Su...

Add ASCE-7-22

For wind loading ASCE-7-22 needs to be added in selection list. This is the latest standard and client design basis is demanding to use latest standard.

Add Feature to Allow Specific Gravity to be Changed for Different P/T Cases

At the moment, specific gravity is entered under Pipe Properties and cannot be changed for different pressure/temperature load cases. If there are different load cases, where a section of the model may be filled with water in Case 1 but filled wit...

Add ability to group analysis sets which represent different analysis cases

Piping Stress, Pipe Support, and Foundation load generation require different analysis conditions using different seismic loads to meet differing code requirements. Currently, this is difficult to manage in the same autopipe file as users may have...

Add API 661 allowables to rotating equipment

Provide user ability to insert cooler nozzle allowables per API 661. This would help with cooler orientation and no longer require user to look up allowable values each time. Provide a multiplier allowable (i.e. 2x 3x API limits)

Release limitation of PIPE ID character length

Users of a company in Japan name PIPE ID under specific rule in P&ID and 3D-CAD while AutoPIPE has a limitation for PIPE ID's character length as 8 words. So they convert the PIPE ID for AutoPIPE limitation, but there is a possibility that it ...

Remove automatic segment split

When a tee/branch has been modeled in a straight run of pipe and a new data point is needed Before the branch point, AutoPIPE now breaks the downstream segment of the straight pipe run (user must agree to proceed in pop-up dialog box). This create...
